MATCH PREVIEW

-After a heavy defeat in their match against FC Goa, Mumbai City will host Delhi Dynamos at the Mumbai Football Arena. Coach Jorge Costa was furious with his players for their lack of professionalism and respect.

“In the last fifteen minutes, you saw a team that was waiting for the match to finish. They were not running, they were not focused on the game. I was ashamed because, in the second half, the team gave up,” said Costa.

He went on to add, “We need to show respect for our jobs, we need to show respect for the club and we need to show respect for the fans. As professional footballers, you cannot give up.”

Delhi Dynamos haven’t won a game this season. They sit eighth in the table and have Chennaiyin and FC Pune City for company among the bottom-placed teams. All three teams mentioned above are yet to win a game this season. Delhi narrowly escaped defeat in their last game against Chennaiyin. Delhi will need to be more clinical in front of goal and will once again look to Chhangte and Nanda Kumar to provide width and provide service to Serbian striker Kaluderovic.

-In Mumbai City team news, goalkeeper Amrinder Singh is not fit to play against Delhi. The shot-stopper was subbed off in the match against FC Goa. Uruguayan midfielder Matias Mirabaje is a 50-50 to make the final team cut for today. Mumbai City won 2-0 against FC Pune City in their last home fixture and will be confident going into this match against Delhi who haven’t won a game this season.

TALKING POINTS

-Delhi Dynamos started brightly and had enough chances during the game to at least get a goal in, but their finishing let them down. They still haven’t won a game this season and that is worrying.

-Arnold Issoko had a great game today. Strong and skillful, he set up the first goal for Sougou with a lovely ball in from the right wing – Sougou held off Marti Crispi and slid the ball in. For the second goal, Arnold latched onto a fabulous through ball by Rafael Bastos, rounded the keeper Dorronsoro and passed the ball into the net.

-Besides an assist and a goal, Issoko also won a penalty. Rafael Bastos stepped up to take it and missed. He tried to sidefoot the penalty and went wide off the post.

-Around 3500 people at the stadium today – and it’s a Saturday. Mumbai City has to do more to encourage more people to come to the ground.
