Mumbai City FC have signed 18-year-old fledgling forward Vikram Partap Singh on a three-year contract from Indian Arrows with an option to extend by another year.
From Chandigarh, Singh spent his formative years at the Chandigarh Football Academy followed by a brief stint at Minerva Punjab Academy. He soon found his way to the AIFF developmental side Indian Arrows which competes in the I-League. Over the last two seasons, Vikram featured in 27 matches in the I-League and contributed with five goals.
The forward who can play anywhere across the front-line has also represented India at U-16, U-17 and U-20 levels. In the AFC U-16 Championship held in Malaysia in 2018, Partap’s goal gave India its first win in the tournament. Last year, Vikram scored in the final of the SAFF U-18 Championship against Bangladesh as India went onto pick up the trophy for the first time.
The teenager is blessed with a burst of speed and has good ball control. He plays predominantly on the right, but can also fill in as a deep-lying centre-forward.
This is a big day in my career and in my life.
Joining Mumbai City means playing with the best players in the country and in the league and not to mention, under a great coach like Sergio Lobera. It was impossible to pass up an opportunity like this for a young footballer like me.
