Kerala Blasters have announced the signing of 26-year-old TRAU FC fullback Denechandra Meitei for the upcoming season of the ISL.
Born in Manipur, Denechandra spent his formative years at the Mohun Bagan Academy, Odisha’s Sambalpur Football Academy and with the now defunct Pune FC youth setup. He was the part of the Pune City youth team which won the U-19 I-League twice before stepping up to the senior team in 2013.
Over the next few years, Metei played for Churchill Brothers, Sagolband United, NEROCA FC and TRAU FC – from where he joins the Blasters. In the 2019-20 I-League, the left back who can also fill in as a defensive midfielder featured on 12 occasions for The Red Pythons.
It has always been a dream to be a part of a prestigious league like the ISL and I am looking forward to playing in the upcoming season with Kerala Blasters.
