TRAU FC dismantle Lonestar Kashmir to go top

Friday, May 3 2019: TRAU FC 4-1 Lonestar Kashmir

TRAU FC picked up their second win on the trot with a comfortable win over Lonestar Kashmir at home. The hosts took the lead in the 19th minute through a penalty. The Nigerian forward and captain Princewill Emeka converted from the spot to get TRAU underway.

In the 30th minute, TRAU FC doubled their lead courtesy Joseph Olaleye and from that point on, TRAU looked on course for a win. Their distribution of the ball from midfield was excellent and they threatened to score with every surge forward.

Lonestar’s Nigerian forward and former HAL striker Jagaba Hamza pulled a goal back in the 52nd minute to bring Lonestar back in the game. However, a couple of minutes later, 18-year-old NEROCA youth product Ngangbam Naocha Singh got on the score sheet to restore the two-goal lead for the home side.

Joseph Olaleye would get his brace in the 86th minute to cap an emphatic win for the Imphal side. They now travel to Bengaluru to meet Ozone FC on 8th May, 2019.

Ozone FC’s unbeaten run put to an end

Sunday, May 5 2019: Ozone FC 0-1 Chhinga Veng FC

Ozone FC

Chhinga Veng registered their first win of the final round and in the process put an end to Ozone FC’s unbeaten run in the 2nd Division League.

The first half of football between the two teams was scrappy and they were unable to convert chances that came their way. The driving force for Ozone FC this season – William Opoku was substituted in the 44th minute as the teams headed into half-time goalless.

Chances fell for both sides and eventually Chhinga Veng obliged. They took the lead in the 75th minute when Lalromawia’s shot from outside the box crept into the goal at the near post of the keeper.

Some late drama in the game saw Ozone FC given a penalty for a hand ball offence by Chhinga Veng in the box. The Ozone captain C.S. Sabeeth stepped up to take it in the 92nd minute, but missed from the spot to deny his team a chance to pick up a point.

Ozone FC will now host TRAU FC on the 8th of May while Chhinga Veng FC will travel to meet Lonestar Kashmir on the 9th of May.
