Hindustan FC hemorrhage goals again, Lonestar Kashmir and Fateh Hyderabad off to great starts, Mohammedan SC lose while Rainbow AC go top of Group C at the end of Matchday 4 of the 2nd Division League.
Hindustan FC fold again
Group A, Bengaluru, 25 January 2019: Bengaluru FC (R) 8-0 Hindustan FC
After losing 0-6 to FC Goa Reserves, Hindustan FC conceded eight against Bengaluru FC B in a one-sided contest at the Bangalore Football Stadium.
Bengaluru FC B scored four goals in each half. They opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a goal from Advait Shinder followed by a Myron Mendes goal in the 20th minute and a first-half brace by Parag Shrivas (16′, 43′).
The Blue Colts got their second set of four goals early on in the second half with a Leon Augustine brace and goals by Emanuel Lalchhanchhuaha and Altamash Sayed to complete the whitewash. The reserves could’ve got more goals but they missed a couple of penalties and some last-ditch defending by Hindustan FC saved the club from Delhi the ignominy of losing by a double-digit scoreline.
While Bengaluru FC go top of the table with three wins out of three, Hindustan FC are now bottom of Group A with three losses from the three games they’ve played so far.
Lonestar Kashmir shine on their league campaign debut
Group A, Ahmedabad, 25 January 2019: ARA FC 2-3 Lonestar Kashmir
Lonestar Kashmir picked up a win on their travels in their first league game of the season.
The team from Srinagar went into the lead in the 25th minute courtesy a goal from their Nigerian forward and former HAL player Hamza Auta. They went into the half-time break a goal up against the hosts.
Hamza got his second goal in the 51st minute to put Lonestar up by two goals. Amey Bhatkal pulled back a goal for ARA FC a few minutes later only for Atinder Mani to score against them to restore the two goal deficit.
In the 72nd minute, Lonestar got their lead reduced to one as ARA FC’s Aditya Ashok Kumar Jha got on the score-sheet. Towards the end, ARA tried to wrestle their way back into the game, but the Kashmiri club held on to clinch all three points.

Fateh Hyderabad find home away from home
Group B, Bengaluru, 25 January 2019: Fateh Hyderabad AFC 4-0 South United FC
Fateh Hyderabad are playing their home games in Bangalore at the FSV Arena this season. Today’s Group B encounter saw Fateh Hyderabad host South United, a club based out of Bangalore.
The early part of the game saw both teams creating a few chances, but it was Fateh who took the lead in the 29th minute from a goal by the former Salgaocar youth product Naro Hari Shrestha.
The teams went into the half-time break with Hyderabad leading and they doubled their lead early in the second half thanks to a goal from Gagandeep Singh.
Down two goals, South United tried to claw their way back into the game only for them to concede late goals on the counter ( 87′ Bedashwor Singh; 89′ Emile O Damey [Penalty]).
The win sees Fateh Hyderabad climb to the top of the table with two wins out of two while South United who are yet to win this season languish at the bottom of Group B.

Chhinga Veng FC make light work of Mohammedan SC
Group C, Aizawl, 25 January 2019: Chhinga Veng FC 3-0 Mohammedan SC
The Mizoram Premier League runners-up Chhinga Veng FC comprehensively took apart Mohammedan SC in the Group C encounter at Aizawl.
The hosts were up 2-0 at half-time with the first goal by MS Dawngliana coming in the second minute and Lalromawia scoring in the 25th minute.
Trailing by two goals and having not won a game this season, Mohammedan attacked with gusto to get back in the game and came close a couple of times, but a third goal by Lalmuanzova in the 81st minute sealed the deal for the Mizo side.
Rainbow AC score a kaleidoscope of goals against Jamshedpur FC [R]
Group C, Kolkata, 28 January 2019: Rainbow AC 6-2 Jamshedpur (R)
New Barrackpore Rainbow Athletic Club picked up their first win of the season while the Jamshedpur reserves lost their third game in succession and are yet to register a point on the table.
Like in their win against TRAU FC, it was Sujit Sadhu who put Rainbow in the lead in the 35th minute. Suraj Mahato doubled the lead in first-half stoppage time as the teams went into the half-time break with Rainbow up two goals to nothing.
The second half saw the usual suspect Joel Sunday pick up a brace (57′, 65′) – the Nigerian forward has three goals from his last two appearances. By the 74th minute, two more goals were added to the scoreline (Goalscorers: Saikat Sarkar, Robi Hansada) to bring up Rainbow’s tally of goals to six.
With the game beyond doubt, the Jamsedhpur FC Reserve team scored a couple of consolation goals late in the second half (82′ Sohrab Akhtar, 89′ Jaypal Singh Sirka).
The result sees Rainbow AC on top of Group C with Chhinga Venga a point behind, but with a game in hand.
