Mizoram Football Association has banned Sihphir Venghlun FC, FC Bethlehem, Ramhlun Athletic alongside 24 players and three club officials for match-fixing. Instances of “match manipulation” have occurred in the recently concluded Mizoram Premier League (MPL 11).

Here’s a list of the clubs, club officials and players banned. The clubs in question – Sihphir Venghlun FC, FC Bethlehem and Ramhlun Athletic have been banned for three years. They had finished 4th, 8th and 5th respectively in the Mizoram Premier League which concluded last month. The penalties for players range from one, three and five-year bans to lifetime bans.
Among the list of banned players is Ramhlun’s Felix Lalruatsanga who scored eight goals this season.

This prompt action taken by Mizoram Football Association to identify the perpetrators and dish out fines and penalties is commendable. Earlier this year, they spearheaded a campaign to eliminate age fraud with an amnesty programme across the state for players competing in competitions organised by MFA.
Statement on Age Fraud by the MFA earlier this year:
