Indian international and defensive midfielder Pronay Halder has joined Jamshedpur FC on loan from ATK Mohun Bagan. The 28-year-old returns to where it all started – Pronay spent his developmental years at Tata Football Academy in Jamshedpur.
Halder’s senior career began in 2011 with Pailan Arrows (now Indian Arrows) in the I-League. After a couple of seasons with the Arrows’, Pronay turned up for Dempo SC for two seasons following which he joined Mohun Bagan for I-League seasons 2015-16 and 2016-17.
Pronay’s ISL career started with the inaugural edition of the ISL in 2014. He was picked up on loan by FC Goa as part of the ISL draft from Dempo SC. Although, he didn’t feature in the 2014 ISL due to an injury, he played a handful of matches in the 2015 ISL after FCG resigned him on loan. The following season he went out on loan to Mumbai City FC from Mohun Bagan. A year later, in July 2017, he signed for FC Goa from Mohun Bagan ahead of the ISL 2017-18 season.
After spending a year at Goa, he moved to ATK in 2018 and helped the club to the ISL championship in the 2019-20 season. The player was retained by the club when ATK merged with Mohun Bagan to form ATK Mohun Bagan in 2020. Last season, he featured in 16 matches in the ISL for ATKMB as the club went on to finish second during the league stage and ended as Runners Up in the final of the ISL Championship.
Overall, the midfielder has made more than 60 appearances in the I-League and has played in 64 matches in the ISL so far. Pronay made his national team debut in August 2015 and has more than 20 caps. He also featured for the U-19 and U-23 Indian team during his developmental years.
