Chennaiyin FC have signed former Mumbai City FC fullback Davinder Singh on a one-year contract ahead of the 2021-22 ISL. The 25-year-old right back missed the last three seasons of football due to a knee injury sustained before the start of the 2018-19 season.

From Patiala, Singh spent his formative years at the Dalbir Football Academy following which he joined the Punjabi University football team. He was then selected by Stephen Constantine in July of 2017 to represent India in the 2018 AFC U-23 Championship qualifiers. The following year, he played in the SAFF Championship.

Mumbai City FC came calling the month after his selection to the Indian U-23 squad and he was signed by the club in August 2017. He ended up making eight appearances in the 2017-18 Indian Super League. The following year, Davinder was injured before the start of the season and his MCFC contract eventually ran out in 2019 and the defender hasn’t played competitive football since.
