Real Kashmir FC attacker Danish Farooq has signed a two-year deal with Bengaluru FC ahead of the ISL 2021-22 season.

Born in Srinagar, Farooq joined the J&K Bank academy at the age of 13 and was captain of all the age group teams he represented at the academy. In 2015, he joined Lonestar Kashmir and helped his team reach the final round of the 2nd Division League that season.

The following year, in 2016, he joined newly-formed Real Kashmir FC. He was part of the side that competed in the 2nd Division League over the next two years. In 2018, RKFC, in their second year after their inception won the Hero 2nd Div and promotion to the I-League.

Over the last three seasons in the I-League, Real Kashmir FC have finished comfortably in the top half of the table and Danish’s contributions have played an important part. He has scored seven goals and assisted 14 from 48 matches in the league.

The 25-year-old dubbed the “Kashmiri Ronaldo” by local fans comes from a footballing family. His father Farooq Ahmad was a professional footballer who played for Mohammedan SC and represented the former state of Jammu & Kashmir in the Santosh Trophy.

Analyst’s Take (Amrit)

Danish Farooq is a technical midfielder or attacking player. A jack of all trades, it’s hard to say where Danish can find his niche in this BFC side.

He will have to fight for the right to start and will be used in a squad rotation type role at best.
