Defender Sarthak Golui has joined Bengaluru FC on a two-year deal ahead of the 2021-22 ISL season.

From Kolkata and a product of the AIFF Elite Academy, Sarthak made his senior team debut with Mohun Bagan in the I-League in January 2016 and has represented India at the U-16, U-19, U-23 and senior team level. In 2017, Golui switched over to ISL side FC Pune City and spent two seasons at the club.

Mumbai City FC signed the player in 2019 and his nearly two seasons at the club culminated with a move to SC East Bengal in the January transfer window last season. The 23-year-old made four appearances for Mumbai City and five for SC East Bengal during the course of the season.

Overall in the ISL, the right back who can also fill in at centre-back has made 49 appearances in the ISL and has three goals and five assists to his credit.

Analyst’s Take (Amrit, Shlok)

Versatile defender that can cover multiple positions and almost an identical replacement to the departing Bheke. Comfortable on the ball and possessing good recovery pace, he could be an integral part of BFC’s season.

Amrit

Sarthak is a versatile defender who can play as a centre back as well as a right back. Only 23, he has a decent understanding of the game and also has quite a few minutes under his belt as a defender. Even though he is erroneous at times, he is rock solid at RB, and with a good coach, he can grow leaps and bounds.
