Mumbai City FC have signed 22-year-old former SC East Bengal defender Mehtab Singh on a three-year-contract.

Born in Punjab, Singh is a product of the famed Mahilpur Football Academy. He was picked up to be part of the youth setup at East Bengal and represented them in the Hero Youth Leagues before switching over to the senior side in 2016. He made his I-League debut against Aizawl FC in the 2017-18 season as a fullback. The following season he was loaned out to Gokulam Kerala FC and Mehtab featured in five matches for the Malabarians.

In three seasons in the I-League, the centre-back has made 22 appearances. Singh has also represented India at the U-23 level.

Representing a big club like Mumbai City, it’s a huge honour for me.

I’ve always believed putting the hours and in being the best you can every single day. I am here to work hard, I am here to learn and most importantly, I am here to compete.

The Club, our coach and I, we have the same desires and the same targets and that is to become the best in the country and win trophies.

I look forward to my journey here in my new home.
