Spanish forward Fran Sandaza signs with Hyderabad FC

Hyderabad FC have secured the services of veteran Spanish forward Fran Sandaza on a one-year contract ahead of ISL 7.

From the city of Toledo in Spain, Sandaza played out his youth career with Spanish clubs CD Coslada and CD Leganés. He turned pro with local club CD Toledo in 2003 where he started out with their reserve team before transitioning to the senior side. In 2004, he moved to Valencia Mestalla (reserve team of Valencia CF) and was at the club up until 2008.

Fracisco’s next move was to Scotland where he represented Dundee United, St Johnstone and Rangers FC in the Scottish Premiership and Scottish League 2. During his time in UK, he also played in Engish third-tier comepetition – the League One with current Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion. Brighton & Hove Albion won the league that season.

Fran left the UK in 2013 and played for CD Lugo and Girona FC in the Spanish second tier Segunda División for a few seasons before finding his way to Asia. He went on to play club football in Japan and China before returning to Spain last season with AD Alcorcón.

The 35-year-old hugely experienced forward has featured in 266 matches during his career scoring 73 goals and assisting 29. During his time in Scotland, he won the Scottish FA Cup with Dundee United and while he was with Girona FC for a second stint, he helped them win promotion to the La Liga.

Fran Sandaza is a very known striker in Spain. He is a strong and a technically gifted player and he has experienced football at various levels in Spain, the UK, Japan and China.

He is a complete forward who likes to score goals and create chances for his teammates.
