Jamshedpur FC have signed goalkeeper TP Rehenesh on a free transfer from Kerala Blasters ahead of the 2020-21 Indian Super League.

Rehenesh spent his formative years at the Sports Authority of India, Golden Threads FC and Chirag United Club Kerala. He signed his first professional contract in 2012-13 with ONGC FC who were competing in the I-League. TP moved to Mumbai Tigers the season after and his spell at the club included a period on loan to Rangdajied United FC.

The goalkeeper then signed for Shillong Lajong FC in June 2014 and was also drafted into the Indian Super League with Northeast United FC. After featuring for both sides during the course of the season, Rehenesh signed permanently for the Highlanders in July of 2015.

TP’s stint at NEUFC included a two-year loan to East Bengal FC in the I-League. Once he returned from his loan spell, he started featuring consistently for NEUFC in the ISL 2017-18 season. In the 2018-19 season, Pawan Kumar was elevated as the No.1 keeper which meant Rehenesh was restricted to six appearances in the league. Coincidentally, the two will be reunited as Pawan Kumar signed for Jamshedpur FC a few weeks ago.

Last season, Rehenesh ended up following his coach at Northeast United Eelco Schattorie after the Dutch manager took over the reins at Kerala Blasters. He featured in 13 matches in the 2019-20 ISL as the Blasters finished seventh in the league.

With Rehenesh in the squad, we are in a strong position in the goalkeeping department and that gives us healthy competition for the first-choice goalkeeper, which I was looking for.

His former coaches have always praised him and his performances over the years have been top-notch.

Rehenesh comes with high quality, is a top competitor and highly motivated to earn the top spot and perform.

As the Jamshedpur FC coach suggests, the 27-year-old Rehenesh will be in contention once again in his career with Pawan Kumar for the No.1 spot while 17-year-old goalkeeping prodigy Niraj Kumar waits in the wings.
