FC Goa have signed 30-year-old Spanish midfielder Alberto Noguera on a two-year deal ahead of the 2020-21 Indian Super League season.

Born in Madrid, Noguera spent his formative years at Getafe CF before turning professional with Rayo Vallecano B in the fourth tier Tercera División in 2007. A season later he was at S.S Reyes before he was picked up by Atlético Madrid in July of 2009.

Initially he was assigned to the Atlético Madrid C team who were also competing in the Tercera División. In 2010, he was moved up to Atlético’s reserve side – Atlético Madrid B who were playing in the third tier Segunda División B. A year later he made his debut with the senior side in the 2010-11 La Liga and ended up making a total of two appearances for the Los Rojiblancos.

Current League One side Blackpool FC signed the midfielder in 2012 and over the course of the English Championship season, Alberto made only one appearance.

After leaving Blackpool FC in 2013, Noguera played club football in Azerbaijan briefly before returning to Spain and continuing his career in the second and third tier of Spanish football.

Alberto featured heavily for Lorca FC between 2016 and 2018 and helped the club win promotion to the second tier Segunda División in the 2016-17 season.

Over the last two years, Noguera turned up for CD Numancia – a period which also included a loan spell to Racing de Santander.

During the course of his career mostly in the Spanish lower divisions, Alberto has featured in 261 matches scoring 17 goals and assisting six.

The midfielder alongside new signing Jorge Ortiz Mendoza will be expected to shoulder the burden of Hugo Boumous’ departure if Mumbai City FC manage to pay the release clause for the 2019-20 ISL Player of the Tournament.

Alberto is a player we’re quite excited to welcome to FC Goa. He’s a player who comes with immense experience and comes to us on the back of a season in the Segunda in Spain.

He’s an extremely technical player, capable of unlocking defences and he’ll fit into our style of football seamlessly.

FC Goa has always emphasised upon retention of the ball and taking the initiative in the games and we’re confident Alberto will help us in achieving that.
