Northeast United FC have brought on board 31-year-old Swedish midfielder Simon Lundevall on a free transfer from Swedish top division club IF Elfsborg.

Simon played his youth football at Swedish club Eskilstuna City FK before turning professional with them in 2005. After three seasons at the club he moved on to other Swedish clubs before joining IF Elfsborg where he spent the last four seasons. Over the course of his career in the Swedish top tier – the Allsvenskan – he has made 199 appearances scoring 30 goals and assisting 52.

The left-sided midfielder has also played in the Qualifying Round of the Europa League on a few occasions and has been capped once for the Swedish National Team.

The Highlanders are languishing in ninth place in the ISL with their star signing Asamoah Gyan out injured for the season. The signings of the forward Andy Keogh and Simon Lundevall in the January window hopefully provides them with the impetus needed for the rest of the season.
