ATK have announced the signing of Spanish defensive midfielder Armando Sosa Peña from Wellington Phoenix as a replacement for the injured Irishman Carl McHugh.

The 30-year-old Mandi as he is commonly known joins his former teammates Roy Krishna and David Williams who joined at the start of the ISL season from A-League side Wellington Phoenix.

Born in Santa Lucia, Mandi made his senior team debut with Spanish team UD Vecindario in 2007. Over the years, he represented Villarreal’s B and C teams, Real Madrid Castilla and Sporting de Gijón among others. With Real Madrid B (Castilla), he won the third tier Spanish League, the Segunda División B in 2011-12.

Armando Sosa Peña has been brought in as a replacement for the injured Carl McHugh. McHugh was injured in the game against Mumbai City FC and is expected to be out for at least two to three months which prompted the ATK management to dip into the transfer kitty again. The Indian Super League allows clubs to sign free agents as direct replacements for injured players outside the transfer window.
