Northeast United FC have brought on-board 29-year-old Dutch defender Kai Heerings from the top-flight Eredivisie club Fortuna Sittard.

Kai represented Ajax and FC Utrecht academies during his youth career before signing professionally for FC Utrecht in 2011. After four seasons at the club, he moved onto other Dutch clubs and has also been part of league football in Germany and Austria.

In 2017, Heerings returned to the Eredivisie with Fortuna Sittard – from where he joins the Highlanders.

Over the years, Kai has featured on 85 occasions in the Eredivisie and his experience in the top-tier league should see him slot into the Northeast United defence in the upcoming ISL season.
