Mizoram Police maintain their 100% start to the Mizoram Premier League with a 3-2 win over Chanmari. Aizawl FC and Chhinga Veng fail to register wins, while Ramhlun North FC put Chawnpui to the sword.
The Police takes the sting out of Chanmari

Mizoram Police win their second match in a row with a 3-2 victory over Chanmari FC at the Mizoram Premier League.
A late strike by Lalbiaknunga in the 89th minute secured all three points for the 2019 MFA Super Cup champions as they bid for a rare double.
Playing at Lammual, Aizawl, Chanmari FC struck early in the match through playmaker David Lalrinmuana, who curled the ball in from the edge of the box on the fifth minute.
The Police team almost retaliated soon after through Lalfakzuala while Chanmari FC themselves blew a chance to double their advantage through Lalrammmuanpuia.
The Police team equalised in the 34th minute. Lalbiakhlua’s first time volley of F. Lalrinpuia’s long ball gave Chanmari goalkeeper, Zothanmawia, little chance to react.
After the break, Mizoram Police went ahead within three minute. R. Malsawmtluanga’s freekick was parried away by Zothanmawia, but Malsawmfela latched on the rebound to make it 2-1.
Mizoram Police dominated the match with their twin-strikers F. Lalrinpuia and Lalbiakhlua. However, David Rinmuana had other ideas for Chanmari – a well-executed freekick on the 80th minute leveled the scores.
With three points up for grabs, it was the Police team who got their noses in front when the experienced campaigner, Lalbiaknunga, popped up to snatch all three points for Mizoram Police.
After the MFA Super Cup win and a 100% start to the league campaign, the Police fans might as well go “De do do do de da da da”.
Ramhlun North FC bounce with a win

Ramhlun North FC: (Jessy Vanlalmuana 4′, Kaleba Lalnunhlima 12′, Lalthankhuma 87′)
Ramhlun North FC made amends for their first round defeat with a 3-0 win against Chawnpui FC in Mizoram Premier League.
Both teams slugged it out in a blistering start to the match. Ramhlun North went ahead in the fourth minute through their skipper Jessy Vanlalmuana. Minutes later, Lalhmachhuana began the celebration to Chwanpui’s equaliser only to have been denied by the linesman for offside.
In the 12th minute, Kaleba Lalnunhlima doubled the lead for Ramhlun North FC to put his team on the front foot. The match was interrupted by a dense fog in the second half, which did not diminish Ramhlun North’s sight on the victory.
Lalthankhuma ensured that the three points went the better team when he headed in a corner in the 87th minute to make it 3-0.
Newcomers Venghnuai hold Chhinga Veng to a draw

Newcomers, FC Venghnuai, continued their resolute start to the Mizoram Premier League with a 1-1 draw in the second round against Chhinga Veng FC.
In a half which was dominated by Chhinga Veng, it was Venghnuai who went into the break with a 1-0 lead. Lalruatfela pouncing on a rebound inside the box to give his team the lead against the run of play.
After the break, Chhinga Veng FC were able to find a response. Vanlalchhuanga’s delivery was duly finished by new signing, Ouattara Sie.
The runners-up from 2018 continued to dominate the match, while Venghnuia played on the counter. The newly-promoted team could have snatched a winner late on, Vanlalthanga’s efforts was denied by Ruatpuia to ensure that both teams are locked on two points from two matches.
Sparks fail to fly between Electric Veng & Aizawl
FULL TIME: Aizawl FC 0-0 Electric Veng FC
Aizawl FC and Electric Veng FC played out to a draw in a cagey match at Lammual.
On an evening marred with a dense fog, two teams struggled to create clear-cut openings with majority of the match being played out in the midfield.
Aifred Jaryan and Isak Vanlalruatfela tested the Electric Veng FC custodian, Lalmuansanga. At the other end, Electric Veng’s best chance came off a set-piece. Defender, K. Lalmalsawma, failed to find the back of the net from close.
The match’s best moment came in the second half. A long-distance strike by Aizawl FC’s Jonathan Lalrawngbawla was equaled by Lalmuansanga’s acrobatic effort to maintain a clean sheet.
Aizawl FC, the defending champions, are on two points after two games. Electric Veng have also started the campaign with two draws.
League is up when September ends
The league will resume on October 3rd, as the players will be involved in the Santosh Trophy North East Zone Qualifying Rounds.
Chhinga Veng and Chanmari face off in the afternoon fixture, while Chawnpui and Electric Veng go toe-to-toe in the evening fixture.
The following day, Aizawl will hope for first win against table toppers Mizoram Police, while Venghnuai would aim to register their first win in the MPL.
