The 2019 edition of the Sikkim Premier Division League kicked off in Gangtok. Organized by the Sikkim Football Association, a total of eight teams will face each other at least once in the round-robin format. All the matches will be held at the Paljor Stadium.
After much deliberation, the opening match kicked off on the 24th of August. The final match will be played on the 19th of September.
Former I-League team, United Sikkim FC, are the defending champions.
Kumar and Aaakraman on the attack!
On the opening day, Kumar Sporting FC outplayed United Sikkim FC on the opening day to secure full three points from its first victory.
Kumar Sporting’s Sanjit Subba opened the scoring midway through the first half. Two minutes in the second half, Kumar Sporting doubled their lead through Titus Sewa. The 2-0 scoreline put the defending champions on the backfoot early on in the tournament.
Later in the day, the fantastically named Sikkim Aakraman FC kicked off their campaign with a 5-0 thrashing of Unicorn FC. Fresh from their triumph in the Independence Day Football Tournament, where Aakraman beat Sikkim Police in the finals.
True to their name, Aaakraman FC started the game on the attack as Debashish Rai bagged four goals, while Dawa Sherpa score the other to complete the rout.

Police beaten by Boys
Boys Club, Gangtok edged past Sikkim Police FC by a solitary goal to secure full three points from its first match. Sonam Lepcha scored the winning goal for Boys Club midway through the first half. The lone goal was enough to seal three points.
In the other match of the day, Sikkim Himalayan Sporting Club and State Sports Academy played out a goalless draw. The winners of the 73rd Independence Day Football Tournament [Chogyal Sir Tashi Memorial Cup 2019], were met with a resolute defence to end the match in a stalemate.
