East Bengal FC have announced the signing of 33-year-old Spanish forward Marcos Jiménez de la Espada Martín for the upcoming I-League 2019-20 season.

Born on the island of Majorca, Marcos signed his first professional contract in 2004 with CE Constància, a club which competes in the Tercera División – the fourth tier of the Spanish league system.

Marcos went on to represent a number of clubs in the Segunda División (2nd tier), Segunda División B (3rd tier) and the Tercera División. Prominent among them are RCD Mallorca B, Orihuela CF and Gimnàstic (2012-16).

In July 2016, Marcos moved to the Hong Kong club Kitchee briefly before signing for another Hong Kong Premier club Southern District FC. He was prolific in the Hong Kong Premier League with 32 appearances yielding 22 goals.

The veteran striker found his way back to Spain in 2018 with CD Atlético Baleares and over the course of the Segunda División B season scored nine goals (33 matches).

Marcos joins East Bengal FC on a free transfer from Atlético Baleares.
