ATK have roped in 34-year-old former Real Madrid B defender Agus García for the upcoming Indian Super League season.

The Spaniard was a product of the Albacete youth academy before going on to represent the B side and the senior side briefly in the 2004-05 La Liga. Real Madrid acquired his services and sent him to their reserve side (Real Madrid B) which completed in the Segunda División during that period.

After four seasons at Madrid (2005-2009) which included a loan spell to Celta de Vigo, Agus went on to represent a number of clubs in the second and third tier of the Spanish league. Córdoba CF, AD Alcorcón and RCD Mallorca are some of the teams he pulled on a jersey for.

The past few years of García’s career have taken him to Turkey with Orduspor, the MLS in the United States with Houston Dynamo, the Danish side Esbjerg fB and more recently the Cyprus side Nea Salamis Famagusta FC – from where he joins ATK.

Over the course of his career, García has featured in 180 games in the Segunda División (second tier) and has made 33 appearances in the Segunda División B.

He joins new signings Carl McHugh from Motherwell FC and Indian international Anas Edathodika in defence at the Kolkata club.
