Delhi Dynamos sign 32-year-old Spanish forward Aridane Santana

Delhi Dynamos FC have wrapped up a loan deal for 32-year-old Spanish forward Aridane Santana from Cultural Leonesa for the upcoming Indian Super League season.

A youth product of Deportivo de La Coruña, Aridane went on to represent the ‘B’ side of the club in the fourth division – the Tercera División between the years 2006 and 2009.

After Deportivo, Santana represented several clubs in the second and third tier of the Spanish league system. Prominent among those are CD Tenerife (2012-15), Albacete (2016-18) and Cultural Leonesa – from where he joins Delhi Dynamos FC on loan.

Over the course of his career, Aridane scored 17 goals in 105 appearances in the Segunda División (second tier), and 35 goals in 85 appearances in the Segunda División B (third tier).

This is Aridane’s second sojourn into Asia after having previously turned up for Bangkok Glass in 2015.

After last season’s signing Andrija Kaluđerović managed only a solitary goal in 12 appearances, the Dynamos will hope Aridane comes good. The paucity of goals in spite of creating chances galore was one of the primary reasons Delhi finished eighth in the ISL last season.

I am really happy to be in India. The Indian Super League is a very promising league and I hope to score as much as possible for my team.

I have watched the team’s play last season, and I believe I will not disappoint coach Gombau and the team with my gameplay.
