ATK continued their strong showing in the transfer market with the signing of experienced Indian international defender Anas Edathodika from Kerala Blasters FC.

The 32-year-old centre-back who hails from Malappuram has a wealth of experience in the I-League, Indian Super League and with the Indian national team.

Scouted by former Indian international Feroz Sherif, Anas joined Mumbai FC in 2007 and helped the club win promotion to the I-League from the 2nd Division. He joined arch-rivals Pune FC in 2011 and after spending four years at the club was drafted into the Indian Super League with Delhi Dynamos FC.

After a couple of seasons at Delhi Dynamos which included a loan spell to Mohun Bagan, Anas was the first player to be signed by the newly minted Jamshedpur FC in the 2017-18 season.

The following season (the recently concluded ISL 2018-19 season), Anas returned home with the Kerala Blasters and was reunited with Sandesh Jhingan, his national team central defensive partner.

Over the course of the season, Anas made eight appearances for the Blasters’. More recently, Anas was cajoled out of international retirement by the new Indian NT head coach Igor Štimac and is currently part of the squad which will be taking part in the Hero Intercontinental Cup 2019.

I am very pleased with the signing of Anas Edathodika.

He has established himself as a star defender and I believe he has a lot of potential. He will be an essential addition to the defence of the team.

Antonio López Habas, Head Coach, ATK.
