Mumbai City FC sign 19-year-old defender Hmingthanmawia (Valpuia) from Aizawl FC

Mumbai City FC have announced the signing of 19-year-old defender Hmingthanmawia (Valpuia) on a two-year contract from Aizawl FC.

Born in Aizawl, Valpuia represented Mizoram in the Sub Juniors where his performances caught the eye of Aizawl FC. He signed for Aizawl FC with the junior team and was promoted to the first team in September 2017. 

Hmingthanmawia has featured extensively for Aizawl FC over the past two seasons in the I-League and has also represented the club in the AFC Cup.

The versatile defender can play as a centre-back, defensive midfield and as a right fullback. Only 19 and with two seasons under his belt, Valpuia has his entire career ahead of him and joining Mumbai City FC is a step in the right direction.
