The much-anticipated Hero Gold Cup starts today at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. The tournament features national women’s football teams from India, Iran, Myanmar and Nepal.
The opening game of the tournament will see Myanmar taking on Nepal at 4PM while India go up against Iran at 7PM. The match will be streamed live on Hotstar.
India currently ranks 62 in the FIFA Women’s Ranking while Myanmar are at 44; Iran are at 60 and Nepal are in the 108th spot.
The Head Coach Maymol Rocky had this to say in the presser: “Iran is a good team and they are coming on the back of some really good results against the likes of Lebanon and Thailand. Rankings shouldn’t matter and we are expecting a tough fight from them, but having said that my girls are also ready to give their best.”
The Indian team will be fairly confident going into tonight’s game after winning their last four games against Hong Kong and Indonesia in the friendlies held recently.
