I-League: Minerva Punjab FC part ways with Paul Munster

Paul Munster

Minerva Punjab FC have announced that head coach and technical director Paul Munster has left the club citing personal reasons.

The Irish striker-turned-coach was brought on board by Minerva Punjab in August 2018, but the defending champions have seen their campaign go topsy-turvy this season. They are currently ninth on the I-League table and have managed to win only three games out of the 16 they played.

The prepared statement issued by the club read as follows:

Due to personal reasons, I have decided to move back to Sweden and pursue my career there. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Minerva Punjab FC and I am leaving with a heavy heart, I wish the team and the club the very best of luck for the remaining season.

Paul Munster

I am very sad to see Paul go, he is more than just a coach, he’s been a great friend and a confidant. Though it came out of the blue, I understand and accept his decision. I have nothing but best wishes for Paul.

The assistant coach Sachin Badadhe will take over as interim coach ahead of their AFC Champions League tie against Saipa FC in Teheran on Tuesday.
