Game, Set, Match to FC Goa Reserves against Hindustan FC
Group A, Bambolim, 21 January 2019: FC Goa (R) 6-0 Hindustan FC
FC Goa Reserves hammered six goals past Hindustan FC in the last 20 minutes of the game to clinch their first win of the season.
The first half saw Goa create multiple chances, but the Hindustan FC keeper Arup Denbath kept them in the game and teams went into the first-half break on level pegging.
In the 54th minute, the Hindustan FC forward from Afghanistan Maruf Fazly was shown a straight red after fouling Sarineo Fernandes. Liston Colaco was substituted in to take advantage against the 10 men of Hindustan FC and he scored a quick-fire brace in the 73rd and 74th minute to give Goa a 2-0 lead.
A third goal was scored by Meldon Dsilva in the 76th minute and Liston scored Goa’s fourth goal and his third of the night to put the game beyond Hindustan.
Injury-time goals at the end of the second half by Nestor Dias and Aaren D Silva meant the humiliation was complete for Hindustan FC – a strong performance by the Gaurs after a disappointing start to their 2nd Division League season where they ended up losing against Bengaluru FC B.
Bengaluru FC B shuttle past Ahmedabad Racquet Academy
Group A, Ahmedabad, 21 January 2019: ARA FC 0-4 Bengaluru FC B
A free-scoring Bengaluru FC reserve side scored two goals in each half to comfortably ease past ARA FC and pick up their second win in as many games.
Bengaluru started the game on the front foot and won a penalty in the 27th minute. The captain Myron Mendes stepped up to take it, but was denied by a great save by the ARA FC keeper Abhishek Das.
Not deterred by the missed penalty, Bengaluru continued probing forward and opened the scoring from Namgyal Bhutia’s low cross in to the box which was met by Advait Shinde who eased it past the keeper.
They doubled their lead at the stroke of half-time when the brilliant and influential Altamesh Sayed found Naorem Roshan Singh in space with a chipped pass – Roshan Singh controlled the ball with a neat first touch and slotted it past the keeper.
In the second half, it was the turn of AIFF Elite Academy player Lalnuntluanga to shine for the Bengaluru FC Reserves side. The forward scored a goal a couple of minutes after he came on in the second half and scored again in the 80th minute to seal all three points for his side.

Rainbow AC show up on Tiddim Road
Group C, Imphal, 22 January 2019: TRAU FC 2-3 Rainbow AC
After picking up two wins on the road, Tiddim Road Athletic Union lost their first game at home to Rainbow AC.
It was the former NEROCA midfielder Reisangmi Khodang who opened the scoring for TRAU in the 12th minute. This was cancelled out in the 38th minute by the Rainbow AC defender Sujit Sadhu as the team went into the half-time break level on scores.
The Nigerian journeyman Joel Sunday put Rainbow in the lead in the second half and they doubled their lead in the 65th minute (Sujay Dutta) to go 3-1 up.
A late charge by TRAU from Princewill Emeka saw them reduce the goal deficit to one, but that was about the extent of the comeback.
Ozone FC head up to the top of Group B
Group B, Chennai, 22 January 2019: Chennaiyin FC (R) 1-2 Ozone FC
Ozone FC made it two wins out of two after they beat Chennaiyin FC Reserves on their travels. Ozone FC started the game better than the home team, but the reserves almost against the run of play scored with Joysana Singh driving a low shot past the Ozone keeper.
In the second half, Chennaiyin were wary going forward and mostly played on the counter. Their good work in the first half came undone when a cross into their box in the 71st minute picked up a deflection off the head of Prabin Tigga and resulted in an own goal.
With the scores level, the top scorer in the U-18 Youth League last season, 17-year-old Manvir Singh popped up to score a header from a corner in the 85th minute to secure all three points for Ozone FC.
This was Chennaiyin FC B’s first loss in the league after drawing their last two games.

Jamshedpur FC Reserves slip up again
Group C, Kolkata, 23 January 2019: ATK (R) 2-0 Jamshedpur (R)
Jamshedpur FC Reserves crashed to their third defeat in as many games and find themselves at the bottom of Group C.
ATK scored both the goals in the first half. The first goal came in the 32nd minute from 16-year-old Hindustan FC graduate Thomyo Shimray and a second goal was scored by the 19-year-old ATK Reserves captain Yumnam Gopi Singh.
Jamshedpur FC couldn’t mount much of a challenge in the second half and the game ended with ATK picking up the points to go top of Group C.
