Chanmari FC and Electric Veng FC reignite their semifinal hopes in Round 13 of the Mizoram Premier League. Chhinga Veng FC and Aizawl FC confirm their semifinal spots, while Mizoram Police FC will have to fight it out in the final round. Chawnpui FC will finish sixth in this year’s campaign, while Ramhlun North FC and Bethlehem VT FC will have to fight to stay up.

Aizawl FC win dents Mizoram Police semifinal hopes

Mizoram Police FC missed the opportunity to cement their place in the semifinals of the Mizoram Premier League. A 2-1 loss to Aizawl FC put their chances to qualify for the final round in a precarious position. A relatively quiet first half saw chances at a premium for both sides.

Late into stoppage time, Aizawl scored through Isak Vanlalruatfela, who picked up a long ball from goalkeeper, Awmpuia, and shot his team into the lead from outside the box.

The second half was a much open affair and Mizoram Police FC leveled on the 51st minute when a set-piece delivery by Lalfakzuala from the left wing was headed in by Malsawmfela.

With the scores level, both sides went in search of a winner and they came close on a couple of occasions. Aizawl’s F. Lalremsanga and Lalrinchhana Tochhawng could not convert their chances, while Police’s Lalsangbera was denied by Awmpuia at the other end.

With five minutes to go, Rochharzela delivered a cross from the right which allowed the substitute, Lalkhawpuimawia, to head in the winner. The win takes Aizawl to 25 points on second place, while Mizoram Police FC slip to 5th place with 18 points.

Chhinga Veng FC hang on to overcome Ramhlun North FC

League leaders Chhinga Veng FC registered yet another win in the Mizoram Premier League as they beat relegation candidates, Ramhlun North FC, at AR Lammual.

A goal from Chhinga Veng’s Ivorian forward, Getch Arthur Diomande, proved to be the difference between the two teams. A scorcher of a strike in the 43rd minute proved enough for the defending champions.

Chhinga Veng’s F. Zosangliana missed a chance to extend the lead after a one-on-one opportunity against Ramhlun North keeper Eddie Zorammawia.

Ramhlun North missed the chance to equalize when Chhinga Veng’s custodian T. Zothanmawia provided a superb save to deny K. Lalnunzama.

The win helped Chhinga Veng maintain the top spot, with 29 points. Ramhlun North remain in the relegation playoff position with 10 points.

Laldampuia keeps Chanmari FC hopes alive

A stoppage-time goal from Laldampuia helped Chanmari FC register a victory over Bethlehem Vengthlang FC. The win has kept Chanmari’s hopes of a semi-finals spot alive and kicking.

Laldampuia struck in a beautiful freekick on the 15th minute to give Chanmari FC the lead. The striker had a couple more chances to further their lead in the first half in a dominating spell.

Bethlehem Vengthlang FC pulled one back in the 43rd minute – H. Lalhlimpuia heading in a corner from Lalchhuanpuia. In the second half, Lalhlimpuia nearly scored his second but Chanmari’s custodian, MS Dawngliana, was equal to the task.

The match was heading for a draw before Chanmari substitute Lalnunzama set up Laldampuia who did not miss from close range. The win puts Chanmari in the fourth spot with 18 points, while Bethlehem Vengthlang FC is at the bottom with 8 points.

To avoid relegation, Bethlehem Vengthlang FC needs to register a win against league leader Chhinga Veng FC in their final match. However, they will also need Ramhlun North FC to drop points to escape the drop.

Electric Veng FC register important win after five games

Electric Veng FC registered a timely win to reignite their hopes of a semifinal spot. A 2-0 win against Chawnpui FC also halted a run of three consecutive defeats.

Electric Veng had an incredible start which saw them earn 16 from seven matches. However, they had picked up only one point from their next five games.

An error by Chawnpui keeper, Thomas Lalthlamuana, gifted Electric Veng FC forward, R. Lalthanmawia, to slot in the first goal in the 14th minute. The score was doubled in the 25th minute with Vanlalremruata provided an assist for Vanlalremsanga to finish to give his team a two-goal cushion.

The second period saw Chawnpui attempting to get back in the game but Electric Veng FC defense held firm to protect their two-goal lead and dash Chawnpui’s hopes for the semifinal spot in an otherwise impressive campaign.

Electric Veng is in third place with 20 points, while Chawnpui is in 6th place with 14 points – four behind the fourth-place team.

Semifinal spots up for grabs

With Chhinga Veng and Aizawl FC having confirmed their semifinal spots, three other teams will vie for the remaining two spots.

Chanmari FC, Mizoram Police FC, and Electric Veng FC will fight it out for the semifinal spots in the final round of the Mizoram Premier League.

Chanmari will need to register a win over Aizawl to keep their semifinal hopes alive. They will also need to keep an eye on the other results to go their way.

All eyes will be on the direct shootout between Mizoram Police FC and Electric Veng FC. The Police team will require a win to qualify for a top 4 spot, while a draw will be enough for Electric Veng to stake their claim in the final rounds.

Ramhlun North FC will hope for a result against Chawnpui FC to cement their place in the relegation playoff match. Bethlehem VT FC will require a win against league leaders Chhinga Veng FC in order to survive the drop.

The final round of matches will be held on Nov. 16th and 17th.
