MATCH PREVIEW
–Delhi Dynamos face an uphill struggle to pick up their first three points of the season when they play host to an in-form Jamshedpur FC today. In the six games they’ve played so far, they drew three games and lost three games.
They go into this game on the back of losses against Northeast United and Mumbai City. They’ve only managed to score three goals this season which is the lowest among the ISL teams. And two of those goals came from defenders.
The lack of goals this season is a worrying sign with forward Kaluderovic managing a solitary goal this season. Delhi have looked very ordinary in coordinating attacks and providing service to Kaluderovic; the forward’s form hasn’t helped either.
Mihelic and Vinit Rai have looked out of sorts and wingers Chhangte and Nanda Kumar have not been able to influence games.
The defending by Marti Crespi and Pritam Kotal has been atrocious this season – they’ve been both guilty of gifting goals to the opposition.
The only saving grace for Delhi is the keeper Dorronsoro who has been outstanding this season. If he is able to keep the formidable Jamshedpur attack at bay, and if the Delhi front three of Chhangte, Nanda Kumar and Kaluderovic are able to score, Delhi have a remote chance of getting a result out of this game; there are too many ‘ifs’ in this statement though.
–Jamshedpur will be supremely confident going into this game on the back of their 4-1 annihilation of FC Goa. They’ve scored 12 goals in the six games they’ve played so far; only FC Goa have scored more (15) so far this season.
Michael Soosairaj, the former Chennai City FC players looks in ominous form with three goals in two games. The Spanish attacking midfielder Sergio Cidoncha has been impressive and has contributed two goals and three assists already. The midfield of Mario Arqeus and Memo have been instrumental in their build-up play and have been able to take charge of midfield.
With Tim Cahill ready to step in with his experience when needed, Jamshedpur are a strong, potent attacking side. Delhi have lost both home and away fixtures to Jamshedpur last season. If Tiri and Co. hold fort in defence against Kaluderovic, Chhangte and Nanda Kumar (which should not be too difficult based on their form so far), Jamshedpur should be able to edge this game in their favour.
In team news, Rene Mihelic may not be a part of the squad for Delhi Dynamos. For Jamshedpur FC, Yumnam Raju and Dhanachandra Singh are out with injuries.

MATCH REPORT
After a keenly contested draw, Jamshedpur are top of the table, but close behind are Northeast United and FC Goa who have two games in hand.
Jamshedpur started brightly and took the lead in a blistering counter-attack where the goalkeeper Dorronsoro was outnumbered three to one. Gourav Mukhi squared the ball from the right flank and Cidoncha finished it.
Delhi Dynamos made all three substitutions at half-time. Dorronsoro was replaced with the Indian keeper Albino Gomes to accommodate Kaludjerovic and Carmona who both came on as well.
After the three changes, Delhi found their feet in the game. The equalizer came in the 55th minute when a backpass by Robin Gurung was intercepted by the Delhi winger Chhangte who rounded the keeper and scored to level the scores.
Delhi scored again in a matter of minutes to take the lead. Chhangte found himself in a bit of space on the left flank at the edge of the box. He tried to square the ball – the ball picked up a deflection and looped up and was a free header for Adria Carmona who had come on at half-time.
Delhi Dynamos conceded the equalizer in the 72nd minute when the Delhi midfielder Tebar flicked the ball off a corner onto the path of Tiri at the far post who headed it in. Some poor defending by Delhi as there was nobody marking the central defender.
Both teams had opportunities to win the game, but they threw it away.
After taking the lead in the 58th minute, Delhi Dynamos spurned a chance to register their first win of the season. However, they did take the fight to Jamshedpur which should give them some confidence going into the next game against FC Goa on Nov 8.
For Jamshedpur, this is their fifth draw in the seven games they’ve played so far. They were leading going into half-time and could not see out the game or score a few more goals to put the result beyond doubt. They’ve been drawing games they should’ve won – for example the game against Kerala Blasters where they were up 2-0 and ended up drawing the game.
Jamshedpur have a bit of a breather until Nov. 21 when they take on FC Pune City after the international break.
