Mizoram Premier League Roundup – Matchday 3

Holders Chhinga Veng FC grabbed three points with a stoppage-time comeback against Ramhlun North FC in the Mizoram Premier League on Friday.

Ramhlun North took the lead in the 22nd minute when Lalliansanga put Laldingngheta through to unlock Chhinga Veng’s defense. The defending champions equalized through a penalty in the 70th minute, which was converted by Lalromawia.

Ramhlun North had a chance to retake the lead when they were awarded a penalty. However, the spot-kick by Lalliansanga was saved by the Zothanmawia.

Chhinga Veng FC struck in stoppage time when Ramhlun North defense failed to clear the ball in the box. Zosangliana was in the right spot to turn and smash in a volley.

This is the third consecutive win for Chhinga Veng who lead the table with 9 points.

Electric and Chanmari in second place

Earlier on Thursday, Electric Veng FC and Chawnpui FC played out a goalless draw as both teams struggled to create clear-cut chances. Electric Veng remains on second place with 7 points, while Chawnpui is yet to register a win.

Thursday’s late kickoff saw Chanmari FC beat Bethlehem Vengthlang FC 2-1, courtesy a late strike by teenager Mark K. Zothanpuia in the 88th minute. Coming on as a second-half substitute, Zothanpuia struck the ball from 35 yards to seal three points for his team.

Chanmari had taken the lead on the 28th minute when Lalnunzama scored his third goal in the league. Bethlehem Vengthlang leveled the score in the 59th minutes when Jonathan Lalhriatkima set up PC Vanlalhruaia for the equalizer.

Chanmari remains unbeaten in the league with 7 points, while Bethlehem Vengthlang is yet to chalk up their first points in the league.

Aizawl FC register first win

Friday’s late kickoff between Mizoram Police FC and Aizawl FC ended 3-1 in favor of the I-League club. A brace from Aizawl skipper Alfred Jaryan and a late strike from Lalrinfela ensured that Aizawl chalks up their first win of the league.

Aizawl also announced the signing of Ghanefo Ansumana Kromah. The Liberian forward will feature for the Mizo team in the upcoming I-League season.

After three rounds, Chhinga Veng FC remains on top with 9 points, while Electric Veng FC and Chanmari FC are level on 7 points.

Big clash in Round 4

The fourth round of the Mizoram Premier League will take place on the 25th and 26th of September.

Bethlehem VT will vie to score their first points in the league against on Chawnpui FC in the afternoon kickoff. Later that evening, Chanmari FC will face Electric Veng to remain in contention for the top 4 spots. The following day, Ramhlun North FC will take on Mizoram Police FC, with the latter hoping for a win to take them into the playoff spot.

The match of the round will take place between table-toppers Chhinga Veng FC and I-League Aizawl FC.
